After a disasterous 2003 season which only resulted in one 4th place, we were fortunate enough to acquire just 4 pigeons from D & J Hawkins. In the following year the young from these birds were responsible for 90% of our 2004 results resulting in us being 3rd Highest Prize Winners in the Thorne Coronation which has 30+ members. In 2005 our good results continued with one pigeon winning 1st Club 5th Federation Le Mans approx 400 miles, 2nd Club 5th Federation Poitiers approx 500 miles. After a very unfortunate fire which destroyed all our stock cocks and race team we had no hesitation in contacting D & J Hawkins to replace all our losses from their race proven Gaby Vandenabeeles Linley Brothers I would like to thank Dave and John for the 10 young birds I purchased in 2005. They have all won in Club and 9 out of ten have won in Federation races which I must say is outstanding. One blue hen was 1st Federation Northallerton winning Endurance Cup for the lowest velocity of the season in Federation racing, she was also 2nd Section S.N.R.P.C. Leicester beaten by loft mate after both birds dropping together. The nest mate to this blue hen a young cock won 1st Club 9th Federation Utterburn and 1st Club 1st Open Wakefield. Here are just some of their performances as young birds 2nd Club 2nd Federation, 4th Club 4th Federation, 11th Club 19th Federation, 1st Club 9th Federation, 2nd Club 10th Federation, 1st Club 1st Federation, 6th Club 6th Federation, 9th Club 9th Federation, 1st Club 2nd Federation, 4th Club 5th Federation, 1st Club 1st Open, 15th Club 28th Open, taking the first three in the Open. An e-mail Mark Evans (M & D. Evans. Myrtle Lofts) received from Graham Sweeney on 27. 02. 2006 Hi Mark, I called at Dave & John Hawkins on Saturday morning and collected the young birds I ordered, I must say they breed youngsters of the highest quality and we are very pleased with these young birds. I just hope we can do them justice, and give them a fair test on the north road (NRCC) I would advise anybody to give them a call if they want top quality birds, plus we were made very welcome and spent a very enjoyable 3 hours with them. Many thanks Graham Sweeney.
After spending the last thirty odd years in the sport of pigeon racing, and most of the last twenty years at the top or very near the top. I am always looking for something better and fetch birds in to try against my successful “VAN REET” family. In 2004 after reading so much about “GABY VANENABEELES” of the “M& D EVANS” partnership I decided to contact them with a view to purchase some of their birds. I was surprised to find that they were booked up for the next three years. “DICKIE EVANS” kindly recommended I contact “JOHN & DAVE HAWKINS” of “DUNSVILLE DONCASTER” who he told me had the best of their bloodlines, this I did and purchased twelve young birds in 2005 from their stock loft. These I put to stock and bred sixteen young birds to race in 2006. These “VANDENABEELES” and my own young birds broke all the records in my club winning 8 times 1 st, including 1 st FED 1500 birds in gale force “ North West wind bang on the nose”. I had most of my young birds home when most in the fed had fours or fives back with many missing at nightfall, the sixteen ‘VANDENABEELES’ excelling in this race. They are as tough as old boots. Eight of the Sixteen ‘VANDENABEELES’ scored in the first four which most of the other eight would have scored if they had not been beaten by loft mates. One young ‘VANDENABEELE’ hen winning 3 times 1 st club 4 th club beaten by 3 loft mates and 1 st in the fed two bird championship race Eastbourne. Not bad 4 times 1sts as a young bird, also 5 th, 8 th,14 th and 20 th Fed. She would have topped Fed easily at least once maybe twice if she had trapped. She is a champion in the making. She is bred from a daughter of “DAVE AND JOHNS” “LADY OF THE RINGS who was 2 nd gold ring beaten by her nest mate. “LORD OF THE RNGS” 1 st & 2 nd Gold Ring MIDLAND NATIONAL” 3,140 pigeons. In all my years in the sport I have never bought birds which have made such a massive impact On my own performances like these “VANDENABEELES from “JOHN & DAVE HAWKINS”. This is just the tip of the iceberg. DAVE HAWKINS and his dad JOHN are two of the most honest and genuine fanciers I have dealt with in thirty odd years in the sport. I thoroughly recommend them and their fantastic pigeons.

After reading so much about M & D Evans Gaby
Vandenabeeles me and my dad were so impressed with what we
saw that we soon realized that they were the pigeons that we
were going to introduce to our lofts. We approached them in
2003 and purchased 3 pairs, the year after we approached
them once again but to our disappointment they were fully
booked, Dick Evans kindly recommended us to Dave & John
Hawkins of Field View Lofts Dunsville on Dick's advice
we soon approached Dave and John and we ordered 5 pairs.
After breeding from these 5 pair they proved to us these
pigeons had potential breeding us winners in the first year
of stock. Purchasing these pigeons was a decision that we
never regreted for one moment as they made an immediate
impression against the other pigeons in our loft. In 2005 we
were the highest prize winners in one of our clubs achieving
outstanding results in club and fed, and we would like to
thank Dave and John for that who have helped us achieve
these resutls. We were so pleased with the pigeons
performances we decided to go back and we then purchased
another 2 pairs. In 2006 Dave and John's pigeons proved once
again to be very sucessful for us being highest prize
winners in both our clubs and having many fed
positions. They have become very good friends of ours and
they are totally straight forward people,in our view they
both deserve all the sucess for what they have given to the
sport. In total we have now got 28 stock pigeons of D and J
Hawkins, they must have one of the strongest teams of M & D
Evans vandenabeele's outside M & D Evans lofts, we have
not been disappointed so we would definatley recommend their
pigeons to any fancier. Once again we would like to thank
Dave & John for their hospitality and making us feel very
welcome and we would like to congratulate them on
their outstanding performances in club, fed, classic and
national races.
